An engagement ring is worn on the left hand on the second finger from the left, it is sometimes referred to as the ring finger. Wearing it on this finger can be traced back to the Ancient Romans. They believed this finger had a vein that ran directly to the heart, the Vena Amoris, meaning the ‘vein of love’.
A wedding ring is then typically worn on the same finger as the engagement ring, there is no set rule if it is worn above or below it. Some people then have an eternity ring, these are worn to symbolise eternal love, and are worn on the same finger too in a stack.
There are a few ways to work out a finger size, you can read them on another blog of mine here. If you would like more information on a bespoke engagement ring please contact me or read my guide, or alternatively I have a collection of Made-to-Order engagement rings that you can customise to suit you, have a look at them here.
